Speechless...

Thanks for the write-up! There are so many items you showed that even seeing one of would be akin to a religious experience. I don't think I could handle all of that at once.

It was an incredible experience! It was great seeing so many of these items in person, especially the 2001 items.

I felt the same way, it was just too much!

Thanks!

I know the fate of the Space

I know the fate of the Space Station from "2001". Years after the film was produced, someone found it in a junkyard, neglected, but intact. When he went back the next day to collect it with a friend to preserve it, he found it had been tragically torn to pieces by some kids. All that survived was the picture he took of it, lying on its side in the grass, the day before it was wreaked.

You are correct that Kubrick destroyed many of the props and other items from his movies.

What I want to know is: Where the hell did that model of Discovery 1 on display come from!? O_o

Thanks EVA,

It was a reproduction of the ship, but not sure if it was to specs to the film model, I would think it was smaller than the real model used in the film.

Regardless it was a fantastic model and would love to have one for myself!

I'll be honest and say long,

I'll be honest and say long, spindly, fragile-looking space ships are a fascination (can't really say "fetish"... yet) with me since they often mirror real-world physics, yet have a delicate beauty to them. Discovery One, Venture Star (from "Avatar"), and EAS Cortez ("Babylon 5") are a few examples of these.
