There's a short blurb about me and Tokyo Underground in today's Boston Globe Northwest Edition. It also mentions a signing I am doing on 4/28.
You can read the article here http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2008/04/20/globe_northwest_people/
I'm going to be part of a local authors event at the Chelmsford Public Library on Saturday, April 28, 2 PM, in Chelmsford MA. Details can be found here:

I'll be signing what few copies of Tokyo Underground I have left. Come by and say hello!

9 comments postedHeh. That is completely awesome. I guess I am too new around here to realize you cowrote a book. I will definitely have to pick it up.
When I was in the Marines, I actually spent a good amount of time in Japan, even in Tokyo. Oh, how I wish I could have that time back. The furthest thing from my mind at that time was collecting toys, but I did randomly wander into a couple shops, mostly to pick up airsoft guns for wars we had in the barracks. I am sure there were things in there that would blow my mind today, but I gave them little more than a glance back in 2000.
Congrats, Josh. Didn't realize you were a local hero. :)
Congratulations, Josh!
Just don't let the celebrity get to you, and always remember your origins... :P ^_^

Hey- if you are a CDX member, and you go to this book signing, be sure to wear your own CDX shirt so you can be instantly recognized as a supporter of CDX and Josh!

Very cool, congrats. But, although you have a boatload of toys in your house, I'm thinking thousands is an exaggeration. ;)

I told her that I had MAYBE a thousand. Think of all the star wars toys in my attic..... Somehow it got heard as thousands...

Where can this book be purchased?
Buy a copy direct from Josh, I'm sure. And there's also Amazon.com.

Congrats!
BTW, I used the book while IN Tokyo a couple weeks ago. The train map is a lifesaver, and the Toy 'R' Us in Kameido is great; well worth the trek.
HOWEVER: It seems there's some discrepencies in the Akihabara map...Just sayin'. Unless some stuff changed since it was written, Hobby Figure is labeled as Radio Kaikan, and the Kotobukiya shop is way off. Maybe I'm reading it wrong?
Anyway, that aside, I found the book entertaining and helpful, and I've already got folks picking up their own copies.

"Hey, uh...let's volt in."
Thanks!
Kotobukiya shop moved since publication - we're correcting that in the next run. As a matter of fact, were planning a revision for fall 08 - so if you've got comments or corrections, email them to me and we will take a look at them once we dig in.
