Never did get around to

Never did get around to telling you Josh, Jmann's another one of my own college friends that I've dragged into the Japanese toy rabbit hole. He's a good guy, yep.

Make Peace not Beast Wars

I have comments about the BWTF segment, but I will only say that I am going to PM Josh and Atom about that.

My beef

My beef with the Beast Wars review wasn't to point out whether Beast Wars was good or not, but it was just to point out a grossly subjective and baiting review. It just doesn't jive with the tone of the rest of the content on the site. It felt very much to me like a schoolyard bully, and this site has always had an inclusive, catalog-objective vibe that shouldn't be lost.

It felt as a reader that it was just to get a rise out of fans of the show/toys, and not explain why the toys weren't good. There's plenty of sites where that fits in, but CDX has always mixed any humor in the review with objectivity. Use facts and common sense to explain why the toys aren't that fun (it's not hard) and maybe the veneer of nostalgia will wear off for some, and people can see where you're coming from when you say they suck. "Beast Wars blows chunks LOL" is best reserved for Beavis & Butthead cartoons, and not CDX.

I'm so glad you guys addressed this in the video this week. I've been loving this new video feature, even though I rarely watch the video reviews, this has been great. I've been watching every one, and loving it. Great job!

I know folks are busy, but please, get NekroDave and Sanjeev on there. Some of the videos (especially Sanjeev's Jumbo Spazer video) you guys have done are just great and a lot of fun. I've always loved the video comments that Josh, Atom, Dave, and Sanjeev have done for CDX over the years. You four guys always offer some insightful comments on the hobby that a lot of folks could learn a lot from. Again thanks for doing this and keep up the great work....

I mentioned to Josh that I've

I mentioned to Josh that I've heard from others over the years about how they are drawn to CDX's objectivity in reviewing, even if the reviewer themselves doesn't like the toy. I actually support the position that reviews are kept objective, because then you aren't letting how you feel about the source material get in the way of your opinions about the toy, and you aren't forcing a reader to wade through your passion even if they feel that passion. While the way I write a review is different from most of the others- cover the toy objectively first, then leaving my feelings and opinions until the end- what I try to accomplish isn't all that different. (And the same applies to my videos.)

I think Josh (and most of the rest of the staff) was genuinely stunned by the reaction of Beast Wars fans to VF5SS's review and the earlier poll, and was simply unprepared when he made the statement about banning BWTF.
I also view it this way: the reactions of CDXers- while passionate- were very much under control and moderated by the individuals, and this hasn't turned into an all-out flame war. Yeah there were a few "TRUKK NOT MUNKY", but even those were few and far between. I think that how people posted their comments, either for or against BWTF, says a lot about the CDX membership as well!

I'm of the opinion that BWTF fans get tired quickly of having the show and/or toy line being regularly bashed by Trans-fans, and so when they defend their position, it often looks like passionate rage, oversensitivity, and exaggerated nostalgia; culminating in the form of a cornered animal. Now that may very well be the case with some, but I don't think applies to the majority of BWTF fans.

FYI - closing thread soon.

I think we've said pretty much all that needs to be said about BW and bias on these two threads. You guys can start a thread on the forum if you like, but I think I am going to close comments on these before things get out of hand.
