Haruka Ayase (CYBORG SHE, ICHI) and Takumi Saito (GODZILLA RESURGENCE) star in the romantic comedy THE KODAI FAMILY (高台家の人々, Kodai-ka no Hitobito), the live-action film adaptation of the bestselling manga by Kozueko Morimoto. The series was recently named #1 on the “50 Top Manga Poised to Make a Big Break!” list, voted on by booksellers representing 3,000 bookstores across Japan. In February 2016, the television animation series DRAGON BALL (ドラゴンボール, Doragon Booru) produced by Toei Animation Co., Ltd. celebrated the 30th anniversary of its initial broadcast. Toei Animation has now announced a piece of truly “super” news worthy of this milestone memorial year for DRAGON BALL. The DRAGON BALL SUPER (ドラゴンボール超 (スーパー), Doragon Booru-Choo (Suupaa), 2015-) television series is poised for a new plot development. Trunks arrives from the future and appears before Goku and his companions after they have just finished their battle with Universe 6. Funimation Acquires International Rights to DRIFTERS Anime

At its annual Industry Panel at Anime Expo 2016, Funimation Entertainment revealed to the capacity audience its acquisition of DRIFTERS (ドリフターズ, Dorifutazu) -- the eagerly anticipated new anime series from Hellsing creator Kouta Hirano. Funimation has secured international rights to home entertainment, video on demand and broadcast distribution of the title from NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan. DRIFTERS is set to premiere this October on the company’s subscription streaming service, FunimationNow, in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and Ireland. “We’re excited to expand our partnership with NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan following last year’s acquisition of SERAPH OF THE END: VAMPIRE REIGN,’” said Gen Fukunaga, CEO and founder of Funimation. “We are anticipating a great response from fans for Kouta Hirano’s DRIFTERS -- given the tremendous popularity of his Hellsing series.” Continued...

Sword Art Online, the mega hit that sold 16.7 million copies, will come back as an animated feature with a brand new original story by author, Reki Kawahara! Based on the wildly popular light novels published in Kadokawa's Dengeki Bunko, SWORD ART ONLINE THE MOVIE – ORDINAL SCALE – (劇場版 ソードアート・オンライン -オーディナル・スケール- Gekijooban Soodo Aato Onrain -Oodinaru Sukeeru-) is set to be released nationwide in spring 2017. In addition, the first trailer, featuring scenes from the upcoming film, as well as brand-new visuals drawn by character designer Shingo Adachi were unveiled during the SWORD ART ONLINE event at Anime Expo 2016, held in Los Angeles, U.S.A. on Saturday, July 2 (PST), offering over 3,000 fans in attendance a special sneak peek. The animated TV series SWORD ART ONLINE is based on author Reki Kawahara's light novel (winner of the 15th Dengeki Novel Award Grand Prize) in which the protagonist Kirito fights to survive in the mysterious next-gen VRMMORPG called "Sword Art Online." Toei Animation Co., Ltd. (President: Katsuhiro Takagi, headquartered in Nakano-ku, Tokyo), Bandai Co., Ltd. (President & CEO: Masaru Kawaguchi, headquartered in Taito-ku, Tokyo) and Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. (President: Satoshi Oshita, headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo) have announced that they are to start a new joint project entitled DIGIMON UNIVERSE: APPLI MONSTERS (デジモンユニバース アプリモンスターズ, Dejimon Yunibaasu Apuri Monsutaazu), aimed primarily at young male audiences. The project is set to commence as of Fall 2016. The new DIGIMON UNIVERSE: APPLI MONSTERS television animation is scheduled to begin airing terrestrially in fall 2016.
